Hyperventilation
Stress, anxiety and fear cause hyperventilation. The person
begins abnormal rapid breathing. Reduction of carbon dioxide causes
lightheadedness, suffocation, drowsiness, tingling, and coolness.
Leads to incapacitation, spasms, and unconsciousness. Symptoms
resemble hypoxia. Can be corrected by controlled breathing in
a paper bag.
